IPaDiC successfully implements the first prototype of the Dialin

What a milestone. The first prototype of the DiaLin implantable insulin pump has been successfully pre-clinically implanted.

The DiaLin is an innovative, internal insulin pump that gives highly accurate doses to patients with type I diabetes. The device, developed by IPaDiC (internal pump and diabetes control) located in Deventer, The Netherlands, uses smart sensors to optimally control blood sugar.

There is currently only one type of implantable insulin pump worldwide. This type – which was developed in the 1980s and is therefore very outdated – will soon go out of production. The development of a new state-of-the-art pump is therefore a pure necessity. DiaLin is going to save lives!

The pump reduces the number of hospital visits, is self-cleaning, has a lifespan of 10 years and is readable via Bluetooth from anywhere in the world. This pump is responsible for a huge improvement in the quality of life for patients with type 1 diabetes.

The High Tech implantable Insulin pump

“The DiaLin saves type 1 diabetes patients who are eligible for an internally placed insulin pump a lot of stress. The patient is always “under control” – everything is checked and double-checked, “says Gerrit Stam, managing director of IPaDiC. He should know: he has 20 years of experience as an expert in the use of insulin pumps. The DiaLin was conceived by an internist in Zwolle together with, among others, diabetes specialist Prof. dr. Henk Bilo from the Isala Clinics and Jos Spaan, emeritus professor medical physics at AMC Amsterdam.

The DiaLin now has a working prototype. Now the phase of extensive testing, production and delivery follows. The Dialin is included in Arena PLM / QMS. The DMR is built using Arena QMS. Via the supplier portal the suppliers, such as Baat Medical and others, work together by sharing information from the Arena data backbone, for example a specific part including the drawing, requirements etc. Also QA/ RA logs remotely in to guide the proces of regulatory compliance. Nice to be able to contribute to this project. In 2020 we expect to hear a lot from the DiaLin!

The DiaLin is a new technological advanced insulin pump. More compact, ergonomical and lighter. For much more comfort and freedom of movement!
